Importantly, recommending of course the works of the late, great, Toni Morrison. Can personally recommend Beloved, Sula, and Playing in the Dark, though of course she’s written much, much more.

Beyond that, and this is a recommendation, albeit a somewhat qualified one, is that I’ve just finished Ready Player One. It was fun. It had a very classically-constructed plot-structure. I liked a lot about it. I think it was kind of masturbatory. But it was fun. And a nice break from The Waves, which I actually 100% recommend, though it actually required some effort. Almost done with that one, but loving every minute of it. Woolf writes such good sentences, you know?

Beyond that, I’ve also just started Petzold’s Code, which is also great. Learning things is fun; I forget how much I like reading popular science nonfiction.

In other news, A and I organized a writer/poet camping trip. There were a lot of bug bites, but lots of good food and company and times as well. And I finally found people to play Paper Cuts with me! I’ve been sitting on that game for so long.

I took my fancy camera and took some photos. I didn’t ask anybody for permission to use their faces, so, you know, here’s some photos of non-face-things.*

*Ironically, only one of the people in these photos is actually in the program, and somehow they’re mostly dudes (Save A chopping an onion), when in reality there were more ladies than dudes on the camping trip. Don’t know what this says about my photography choices w/r/t non-face things. Call it accidental; the photos of faces are very nice and more representational. Also, props to Shannon for being the only person to get any writing done.
