The site now looks different, probably for the worse. It’s simpler, though, and I feel good about its simplicity. I will probably redesign it again sooner than later, but for the new year this feels good, cleaner, simple, unadorned. The pictures are now all black and white but if you hover over them they become colorized again. All links are always blue, even if you’ve visited them. Emphasis is now underline, like on a typewriter. I’m less sold on this but I wanted to stop using a CDN to provide fonts, and I thought it might be fun to use the font I use on my terminal for the website. This is, again, probably worse. On the bright side, now there is literally no chance of this site (or your actions) being tracked, which I think is good. Someday I’ll implement a 90s-style "hit counter," but this is all still static and I haven’t gotten around to building a proper web server for "enhancements" such as that yet. So: fine.

In theory I’ll write more but we all know that’s suspect. A coworker of mine is also restarting his blog, though, and has been talking about "learning in the open," or writing about what you’re learning as you’re learning it. I’m sort of interested in this, although I am enough of a prose writer to be suspicious of sharing too much or talking too much about what I’m working on. But I have computational lit projects planned again, so maybe…

Either way: I wanted a change, and this feels clean and easy, and therefore feels good. More to come —
